CryoGlow was Shark's first LED face mask, and the first project we developed with the ID consultancy Layer. Even with an outside partner leading much of the design, the internal team played an essential role steering the mask's gesture to stay aligned with the brand's broader design language.

The strap included hook and loop on the top along with two blocks for adjusting head tension
I was a core part of the feedback loop with Layer, including a trip to their office to review the mask's progress in person, while Boxclever handled the companion remote. My own contribution centered on the strap. I mocked up several directions, pulling inspiration from VR headset designs, and landed on an Oculus-style top strap with pull-apart tension blocks. I also helped develop the cold sink's shape and contour to fit the widest range of face shapes.

The final design included two LED strips that change color to align with the selected treatment
CryoGlow launched in February 2025 at $349.99, developed with dermatologists and FDA-cleared. It went on to become the #1 skincare facial device in the US by dollar sales.

Sessions run 6 to 15 minutes, and it's recommended to use the device daily for best results
