Glossi started as a partnership with the ID consultancy Layer, with feedback from Shark's internal design team, and grew out of brush development on FlexFusion. The two main innovations were changing the head shape to a teardrop, which greatly improved tension and a row of ridged combs next to the heated tines for tension and alignment. Those changes were strong enough that the team decided to make it a standalone product, replacing SmoothStyle, our previous heated-tine brush.

The design goal was to mimic the thinness of a fully passive hairbrush, which drove the necked-down profile at the center of the handle. That constraint cut against the engineering as the internal ductwork needed to stay smooth to protect airflow, and the air heater itself had to fit into the thinnest part of the handle.

Layer handed off design intent, and our internal design team carried it through the technical work that followed. Two things separate Glossi from something like a Revlon One Step: ceramic-coated heated tines built into the brush head, with temperature that drops for safe use on wet hair and turns up for a faster dry-hair finish, and a brushless, high-speed motor in place of the low-speed brushed motor Revlon relies on. For type 3 and 4 hair, that combination delivers straight results with real speed. Glossi launched as a standalone product on October 9, 2025.
The most compelling aspect of this product is the end style results, without this tool you would need to dry your hair prior to styling which greatly increases styling time
